Buy from the villages
No other fabric rivals the unique beauty of Thai silk. Two separate strands of silk are woven together so that when viewed from different angles it appears to be two different colors. Used in everything from elegant dresses and blouses to upholstery, drapes and tablecloths; this versatile fabric is prized for its singular beauty.

Women in small villages throughout Thailand weave most Thai silk. Working on ancient bamboo looms, these “under house weavers” ply their magic, toiling in the heat daily to make this amazing product. By using tools perfected over centuries of use, they are able to weave intricate patterns into the yards of silk. From boiling the silk cocoons to dying the yarn to creating the fabric and patterns, these women do it all.
The problem is that, before now, they have never had access to the world’s markets. Instead middlemen come in and buy up the silk from them for a pittance and then take it to Bangkok and beyond, marking it up often 4 to and 6 times… Until now!
